He was speaking at the opening of the university’s Surau in UniMAP main campus at Pauh Putra here, this afternoon.
Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic and International UniMAP, Dato 'Prof. Ir. Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation UniMAP, Prof. Abdul Hamid Adom and Deputy Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Alumni UniMAP Assoc. Prof Dr. Mohd Fo'ad Sakdan.
Datuk Kamarudin also encouraged other form of charitable cash contributions such as cash, veils, prayer mats, Qurans and the like.
“The proposed cash endowment is to provide opportunities for the people of UniMAP to be able to share the reward together.”
“This is intended to encourage employees to learn the meaning of donation, charity and endowment so that it becomes assets in the Hereafter,” he said.
The construction of UniMAP’s Surau costing RM1.2 million is able to accommodate about 500 people at a time to meet any religious requirements of staff in the campus
Also held during the ceremony was a solat hajat, to pray for the safety and well-being of MH370 aircraft which was reported missing since March 8, 2014.
“Deliberately, we performed this prayer together in asking for safety and health of the crew and also the passengers of MH370 which to date has yet to be found”
“We hope they are found and returned to their families in a safe condition”, he said.
